Kaska: a refined, stackable wooden chair designed by Thomas Bentzen
Kaska Wooden Chair is a new addition to De Vorm’s collection – a lightweight, stackable chair designed by Danish designer Thomas Bentzen. Made from a combination of solid wood and moulded plywood, Kaska offers a refined, durable seating solution for modern spaces. Simple in appearance yet rich in detail, it reflects a hands-on design process and a clear understanding of material and function.
Function shaped by simplicity
Kaska is designed to do exactly what a chair should – no more, no less. With its balanced proportions and subtle curves, it offers comfort without calling attention to itself. The angled back legs transition smoothly into a curved backrest, adding both visual flow and structural stability. The seat has a gently rounded front edge to reduce pressure during longer sitting periods, while the backrest features a soft central curve for support and bent corners to protect surfaces when stacked. Every detail serves a clear purpose, making Kaska ideal for high-traffic environments like cafés, meeting rooms, and cultural venues. Kaska is available in Clear, Brown, and Black finishes, with optional armrests for added comfort and functionality.
A design rooted in craft and clarity
Thomas Bentzen brings a distinctly Scandinavian approach to Kaska – one that values material honesty, functional clarity, and lasting quality. His process begins with sketching and model-making, exploring how each part of the chair can work together seamlessly. In collaboration with De Vorm, the design was refined through prototyping and close attention to detail. The result is a chair that feels both familiar and thoughtful, made to meet the practical demands of daily use. Kaska will be available to order from Q4 2025.
Wood as a building block for smart design
Every aspect of Kaska was developed with sustainability and efficiency in mind – from material choice to construction. Made from plywood sourced through closed-loop forestry and certified to the highest environmental standards, Kaska minimises waste and impact throughout its lifecycle. By refining traditional methods, we create lighter, stronger, and more efficient structures without excess material. With this approach, we turn wood into durable, versatile products that combine precision, sustainability, and timeless design.
